Why plan a gift?
A legacy gift is a gift planned in advance and takes into account your specific circumstances and needs in order to maximize the benefits to both you and Canadian Blood Services. By planning a gift, you can provide a significant future donation without investing large sums of money. You can also realize significant tax savings at the same time.
Gifts through your will
Making a gift through your will is a meaningful way to make a lasting commitment. You can bequeath a sum of money or portion of your estate. Your lawyer will also be able to help you in setting up a gift to Canadian Blood Services by bequest, and they will need to include our correct legal name, Canadian Blood Services, and charitable organization number #87015 7641 RR0001.
Gift of RRSP's and RRIF's
You can make a gift by designating the Canadian Blood Services as the beneficiary of your RRSP's and RRIF's. Tax credits generated by the charitable tax receipt issued will offset taxes payable on the RRSP or RRIF distribution.
Gift of Life Insurance
You can make a larger gift than you might expect by naming Canadian Blood Services as the owner and beneficiary of a new or existing life insurance policy. A charitable tax receipt will be issued to you for the premiums you pay if the policy is assigned to us, or the receipt will be issued to your estate if Canadian Blood Services is the beneficiary but not the owner of the policy.
Our official legal name is Canadian Blood Services and our Charitable Organization number is 87015 7641 RR0001.
